Trade Kicker Overview
A trade kicker pays the player a bonus when he is traded. The rate is written into the contract and cannot exceed 15%. The bonus lands on the acquiring team’s books, so it raises the salary that team has to match, while the team sending him out still counts his salary without it.
What the bonus is actually worth is not listed, because it is not simply the rate times the salary: a bonus is cut back by however much it would take the player above his maximum salary for that season, to nothing at all for a player already at his max. A player can also waive his kicker to make a trade work, and the Trade Machine lets you do that per player.
